Caridina multidentata (Amano) – effective algae-fighting shrimp

Amano Shrimp are among the most popular aquarium shrimp, valued for their exceptional effectiveness in removing algae and maintaining tank cleanliness. Caridina multidentata excels in planted aquariums, helping to control filamentous algae, biofilm, and food remnants.

This variety was popularized by Takashi Amano and is still considered one of the best shrimp for natural aquarium layouts. Their characteristic translucent body with rows of small dots and subtle coloration makes Amano shrimp blend perfectly with plants and the natural tank decor.

Amano Shrimp are larger and hardier than most Neocaridina varieties. They are active and schooling shrimp that thrive best in groups. Thanks to their resilience, they are suitable for both beginners and more advanced aquarists.
