40g DSP – Bacterial Startup Powder for shrimp

DSP is a specialized bacterial powder developed by renowned breeder Tai Cheng from Taiwan. This product supports the development of natural microflora in your aquarium, creating a stable environment for your shrimp – both adults and newly hatched fry.

This isn’t just an ordinary ‘starter’. DSP stimulates the development of biofilm and a delicate algal film on the aquarium walls – a natural food source for the smallest shrimp, which directly translates to a higher survival rate for your young.

Just 3–5 days after application, you may notice an increase in microfauna population (e.g., visible copepods), indicating active ecosystem development.

For which shrimp?

This product works well in aquariums with:

• Caridina
• Neocaridina
• Sulawesi shrimp

You’ll achieve the best results with undergravel filtration, but DSP also works in tanks with sponge filters and in already established aquariums.

Usage in an established aquarium

After a water change, add a small amount of powder:

• up to 40L – approx. 1g
• up to 80L – approx. 2g

Use once a week or every two weeks, depending on your tank’s needs.

In the initial phase, you can use a double dose.

Tip: If snails are present in your aquarium (e.g., limpets), they may limit algae growth by intensely scraping surfaces.

Setting up a new aquarium – instructions

1. Evenly sprinkle the powder on the substrate (2g per 10L capacity).
2. Fill the aquarium with water.
3. Start filtration.
4. Complete the full tank maturation process.

During the cycle, 30% water changes are recommended every 1–2 weeks. After each water change, you can add 1–3g of DSP.

Slight water cloudiness may occur in the first week – this is a natural stage of bacterial development. If it persists longer, perform a larger water change.
